Our Villages Work

OUR SOCIAL OUTREACH IN THE VILLAGES IN HAYRANA

The villages that we work in are socio-economically and educationally, one of the most backward regions of Haryana. The poor sections are landless, illiterate and poor. Most of them are daily wage laborers. The average family size is 8. The literacy rate is very low.

The girl child is mostly confined to their house-hold chores and not encouraged to study. The women of these communities are still marginalized. They have no say in the decision making, both in the family as well as in their own community. Education and development for them is a dream. Private schools are far way and unaffordable. Children in the age of group of 6 to 14 are mostly found roaming here and there aimlessly and they easily fall into bad habits and spoil their lives.

As women have do not have much say in the family. Very often they become victims of social evils like wife beating, child marriage, dowry, purdah system, illiteracy, female infanticide, child labour etc.

Access to basic Education and a dignified living is a distant dream of the villagers. In the current scenario there is no chance of the 'right to education' being realized to hundreds of children in the target areas.

There is a need for increasing the participation of the entire community in promoting educational rights and preventing the children from slipping to child labour. The women and girl children are out of the mainstream of the Society. A comprehensive and systematic intervention is required to conscientize the community.

Proposed Activities
